Library Cards

A library card is required in order to charge materials out of the library.  Garden City residents will receive a library card upon showing a picture ID with proof of residency (driver’s license, state identification card, etc.) Minors under the age of 15 must have a parent or legal guardian present to obtain a library card. Garden City High School students 15-17 years of age may receive a library card valid for one year. Proof of student ID or driver's licence is required. Teachers may receive a library card valid for one year with proof of employment with the Garden City School system.  Patrons may only have one library card in the shared patron database.

Internet Access

The library is pleased to offer 16 public internet computers running Windows 7 with Internet and Microsoft Office 2010. There are no age limits, the computers are available to all library users with a valid library card. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Parents or legal guardians assume responsibility for deciding what is appropriate for their children, and should discuss the responsibilities of computer usage with their children. Illegal or unethical activity will not be tolerated.

Wireless internet access is available. Please note, printing is not available at this time for wireless internet users.

Exam Proctoring

The library offers proctoring services at no cost for students. The service is limited to patrons who qualify for a Garden City library card. Proctoring is done by appointment only. To arrange for this service, please contact the library at 734-793-1830

Library Policies

The library needs written policies that are formally adopted by the Library Board to operate effectively and efficiently.  Policies are reviewed and approved in a meeting conducted according to the Open Meetings Act.
